Compostable bags are growing as a sustainable replacement for plastic bags. Not only do they not pollute in their end of life, but they also serve as a valuable tool for promoting and optimising organic waste sorting. However, there are two drawbacks that keep compostable bags from reaching their full potential and replacing their plastic equivalent completely: cost and strength. SurfAce will allow for 30% thinner films and therefore reduce not only the cost of compostable bags but also the resources needed for their production. This gives way to a more sustainable and more competitive product, setting the new standard for the compostable bag market. SurfAce will be supplied as a coating and licenced as technology to extruders worldwide.
