Based in Vorderthal, Switzerland, nunu.ai (Generai) is developing AI agents that can operate in any virtual environment, significantly improving quality assurance (QA) testing in video game development. As games become increasingly complex, testing remains a major bottleneck. High-profile titles such as GTA 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War have development budgets reaching billions, with studios typically allocating 10% to QA—an area still reliant on manual testing.

Founded by Jan Schnyder, Kyrill Hux, and Nicolas Muntwyler, who met at ETH Zurich in 2017, nunu.ai offers AI-driven testing solutions beyond traditional automation scripts. The company’s AI agents execute in-game tasks based on natural language commands, reducing the need for repetitive human testing. In a demonstration, the technology completed the tutorial of Hogwarts Legacy with simple instructions.

Since launching, several game studios have integrated nunu.ai’s agents to run continuous, automated tests. With the latest funding round co-led by TIRTA and a16z speedrun, which brings its total capital raised to USD 8 million, the company aims to strengthen its presence in video game QA automation, expand infrastructure, and grow its team. While gaming remains the primary focus, nunu.ai has also experimented with real-world applications, such as controlling a quadruped robot to complete physical tasks.

Investors in the round include Y Combinator and other backers. The company sees long-term potential for its AI technology beyond gaming, particularly in robotics and automation.

The ICT company won Venture Kick in 2022.
