Frequently Asked Questions
Who can apply for financing from Venture Kick?
Anyone registered or working at a Swiss academic institution (students, post graduates, researchers, professors, etc at a university, ETH or FH), who is pursuing a concrete business idea and wants to create a promising company in connection with their research activity. Applicants, however, may not have received any other venture capital prior to registration. There is some exceptions (e.g. if your project is based on your PhD results) so in case of doubt, don't hesitate to contact us.
Can I apply if I have already founded my company?
This is usually not possible if you have commercial activities, as Venture Kick focuses on promoting the founding of new businesses. However, there are exceptional cases where it might be possible and you should contact us if you are unsure.
If you already have an active commercial company, it is definitely worth exploring the offers from the partners in the Venture Kick network!
How can I apply to Venture Kick?
You simply need to fill out the registration form. You will then receive the detailed application materials by email with all of the information regarding the rest of the process. As soon as you return the application materials to us, we will inform you about your selection, and, should you be selected, we will arrange a date for your Jury presentation.
Do I have to pay the money back later?
See Conditions of Participation
Do I have to start my business within nine months?
This should be in your plans. The last 100,000 francs are not paid until your start-up has been founded and has a business account - if you are one of the lucky ones who receive the third level of financing. Of course, you can start your company at any point during the nine months - the earlier the better!
Does my business have to be based in Switzerland?
Yes. Venture Kick wants to make a contribution to strengthening the economic conditions in Switzerland and creating promising jobs in Switzerland.
Do I have to be Swiss to participate in the Venture Kick competition?
No. Nationality does not play a role - provided that you have the necessary work permits and plan to establish your company in Switzerland.
Does Venture Kick support projects from different fields?
Yes, all innovative ideas with a growth potential are welcome.
How are the grants decided on?
Decisions are made by a jury of specialists at every stage (as reminder, Venture Kick has 3 stages). At each stage, you submit your "application material" (for example the application form at stage I) and you present to the Jury. Upon selection, you receive all the details about the Jury session. At each phase, about 1/2 of the candidates are being selected for the next phase.
What happens if my application is rejected?
Venture Kick does not allow for a second presentation. We provide an indicative feedback about your presentation. There is however no reconsideration procedure or option to appeal.
