Xsensio announced yesterday that it entered into a know-how and stock-purchase agreement with the Mayo Clinic. The company will work closely with the Mayo Clinic's subject matter experts, who will provide clinical and product development expertise around the use of its proprietary health monitoring technology for critical care.

The goal is to accelerate the development of next-generation wearable solutions that provide continuous, real-time, on-body monitoring of biochemical data to enhance personalized early detection of rapidly evolving acute events, improve rapid clinical workflow, and enable remote patient monitoring.

"This collaboration will provide key insights for the use of our proprietary Lab-on-Skin sensing platform for critical care in the hospital and at home. We are very excited to establish a collaboration with Mayo Clinic," said Esmeralda Megally, CEO and Co-Founder of Xsensio.

Xsensio raised CHF 4.2 million to accelerate the market launch of its Lab-on-Skin platform in 2021. In 2022, Xsensio had also been chosen to join a new cohort of the Mayo Clinic and ASU MedTech Accelerator, a flagship program of the Mayo Clinic and ASU Alliance for Health Care that supports medical startups in navigating challenges as they develop their innovations. The program was launched at the end of March 2033.

Mayo Clinic has a financial interest in the technology and will use any revenue it receives to support its not-for-profit mission in patient care, education, and research.

Xsensio was founded in 2014 and was awarded CHF 30,000 by Venture Kick to boost its development the same year. The startup was among the winners of the Swisscom Startup Challenge in 2016 and was also named a TOP 100 Swiss Startup in 2015, 2017, and 2018.

The wearable Lab-on-Skin system contains Xsensio's core customized chip, its proprietary skin interface, and wireless communication for on-demand or continuous streaming of data to a mobile phone.
