These startups just started the Venture Kick’s adventure: Meet our newcomers on stage one

26.08.2016

Hats off to our new great winners on the first stage of Venture Kick: TasteHit, IMMUNAS, Numerical Based Medical Intervention and Modum.io. The four spin-offs (EPFL, ETHZ, ZHAW and University of Zurich) receive CHF 10’000 each and they might get another CHF 20’000 if they succeed at the second stage of the program.

TasteHit (Internet, mobile) – EPF Lausanne
An affordable and easy-to-install SaaS personalization layer for all online shops
In order to stay competitive, online shops need real-time marketing capabilities to create a personalized browsing experience for each visitor. TasteHit is an affordable and easy-to-install Software-as-a-Service personalization layer for all online shops, which helps online shops increase their conversion rate and visitor loyalty.

IMMUNAS (medtech) – ETH Zurich
Test reducing use of antibiotics through rapid diagnostics of infection's source
Test enabling responsible use of antibiotics through rapid, one-drop-of-blood diagnostics to identify sources of infection.

Numerical Based Medical Intervention (medtech) – ZHAW
Patient-specific 3D simulations allowing more accurate, economical and efficient interventions in orthopedic surgeries.
The Finite Element Method (FEM) is the method of choice in struc-tural mechanics for analyzing deformable structures. Patient-specific FEM based on medical images has great potential to aid in clinical decision making, designing implants, planning surgeries and monitoring outcomes. The goal is to develop a medical software package which allows patient-specific func-tional analysis of the musculoskeletal system to reduce risks for patients, to shorten surgery time and to provide a precise virtual second opinion.

Modum.io (software) - University of Zurich
Modum enables cost savings in the pharmaceutical supply chain by combining sensor devices with Blockchain technology.

Modum enables substantial cost savings in the pharmaceutical supply chain by combining sensor devices with Blockchain technology. Using the Blockchain technology asserts data immutability with full GDP compliancy. Only in Switzerland, the startup is targeting a CHF 300 Mio. market with a cost cutting case potential of up to 1/3 of the whole market volume.
