More than 40,000 companies are founded in Switzerland every year, making a significant contribution to economic growth and innovation in the country. Venture Kick supports original business ideas from all areas, from the start through to incorporation. Since its foundation in 2007, Venture Kick has developed a very successful process grounded in expertise, accelerated innovation and a competitive selection process.
Swisscom also works closely with startups, organises dedicated programmes (e.g. the StartUp Challenge or Calls for Innovation) and backs initiatives (e.g. digitalswitzerland's Kickstart Accelerator). In addition, it supports startup companies through investment. Now the ICT provider is also to become a Venture Kick partner.
"Corporates need to reinvent themselves to stay winners in the digitization age. The startups supported by Venture Kick contribute significantly to the innovative drive of Switzerland and also feel like a rejuvenating bath for us," says Roger Wüthrich-Hasenböhler, Chief Digital Officer Swisscom.
Switzerland’s innovation potential not yet exhausted
Pascale Vonmont, Delegate of the strategy board of Venture Kick and Deputy Director of Gebert Rüf Stiftung, underlines the significance of the new partnership: “We are delighted to welcome Swisscom on board as a donor of the Venture Kick Foundation. The collaboration between major companies and startups creates considerable opportunities for both sides; here, Venture Kick offers a program with a proven track record and opportunities for growth.”
Beat Schillig and Jordi Montserrat, responsible for the operational management of Venture Kick, are also excited: “More than half of the current TOP 100 best Swiss startups are supported by Venture Kick. Thanks to our new partner Swisscom, Switzerland’s innovation potential can be even better exploited. Swisscom is a leader in the field of innovation and in the Swiss startup ecosystem, and is now a new major Swiss company to get involved with Venture Kick.”
