Swiss Technology Award 2015: The Venture Kick startup TheranOptics wins the “Inventors” award

On November 19th, 2015, the most innovative companies of Switzerland have been awarded the Swiss Technology Award 2015 at the Congress Center Basel. Among them the Venture Kick alumnus TheranOptics, which won the prize in the category “Inventors”.

Since 27 years, only outstanding innovative projects make it to the Technology Awards. They must have an above-average market potential and great opportunities for growth. The Swiss Technology Award competition has since a long time become a flagship of innovation in Switzerland. In total, 2,200 projects have been presented to the jury over the years. The competition is open to all innovative forces with one condition: ideas have to come from Switzerland and be further developed with headquarters in Switzerland. From the 80 applications received this year, the 15 high-profile jury members have chosen three winners of the Swiss Technology Award 2015 in a two-stage process.
Venture Kick alumnus TheranOptics creams off the Swiss Innovation Award in the category “Inventors”.
The TheranOptics project aims at revolutionizing chronic wound management in home care settings and nursing home. Its innovative approach relies on flexible and miniature fiber-optic sensors, which can be integrated in conventional wound dressings for real-time in situ monitoring of the healing process. The project is based on a fiber-optic sensor technology developed at the Swiss Centre for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM Neuchâtel).
The Swiss Innovation Awards sacred two further projects this year, the TOP100 newcomer mininavident (category “Start-up”and the medtech startup Sensile Medical (category “Innovation Leaders”).
