Inanna Fertility: AI Clinical Decision Support for IVF
The global infertility crisis is beyond doubt - 72m or 1 in 8 couples experience fertility problems every year and 40% of women diagnosed with infertility suffer from depression or anxiety. Inanna Fertility's vision is that no in-vitro-fertilization (IVF) cycle is lost to trial&error as they connect the dots enabling data-driven clinical decision making powered by AI in fertility. Together with Dr. Prof. B. Leeners from the  Department of Repr. Endocrinology of the Universtiy Spital Zurich; CEO Amra Waegli, CTO Sotirios Fokeas and CSO Mohaned Shilaih aim to provide decision algorithms to fertility clinics supporting all major steps of the IVF process. They strive to dramatically improve success rates lowering the emotional, financial & medical burden of IVF through a new clinical standard based on personalized treatment recommendations. They will use the Venture Kick's funds to ramp up the research & development team with data scientist, and computer engineers to accelerate development of Inanna solution.

Magma Learning: AI Tutor app
Learning is essential to living a fulfilling life. Yet it is poorly understood and often performed in naive and inefficient ways. Maxime Gabella from the EPFL created Magma Learning to provide a personal AI tutor app with a personalized learning process thanks to machine learning models. AI tutors are unique among educational technologies since they learn how the users learns in order to personnalize and enhance their learnings. Based on a number of machine learning innovations, inspired by the neuroscience of learning: knowledge visualization as a network, proximal development, spaced repetition, collaborative learning.

PeriVision: Glaucoma Monitoring System
Worldwide more than 80 million people suffer from glaucoma. It's an incurable eye disease that can lead to total blindness if left untreated. Regular visual field tests are required in order to monitor the progression of the disease. Current methods take an average of 7 minutes per eye and are carried out with large machines. PeriVision, CEO Jan Stapelfeldt and CSO Serife Kucurhas have developed an innovative AI based software to measure visual fields more efficiently by reducing the testing time by 40%. The test is done on virtual reality devices and can be performed from any place desired. This decentralization gives power to general practitioners, pharmacies and eventually to the patient to do visual field tests as often as needed for successful glaucoma management. The feedback from market studies in Switzerland has been very encouraging. They plan to use the Venture Kick funds to launch product development including the market approval process for the US market with the FDA clearance within a year.

Silent LASER: Ultra-Stable Laser Sources
Nowadays, for many applications such as spectroscopy, optical clocks or quantum technologies, there is a significant and growing need for so-called ultra-stable laser sources. However, there is currently no commercial product available that offers a high-performance system with a reduced footprint and cost. Silent LASER co-founders Pierre Brochard, currently Ph.D at University of Neuchâtel, and François Labaye offer to fill this gap, thus opening up multiple possibilities for scientific research and industry. This solution is based on a technology recently developed in the laboratory at the University of Neuchâtel with an on-going patent and already supported by the BRIDGE Proof-of-Concept funding. The Venture Kick funds will be used to further develop the marketing part of the project, including market study and customers visits.

Up Green Recycling: Innovative Organic Wastes Bin
What if the rate of recycling organic waste tends to equal aluminium, paper and glass, all around the world? Organic wastes is associated with nauseating smells, disgusting juice and the appearance of midges are the main repulsive points identified in our market studies.  Up Green Recycling's team CEO Tim Coutherez, CMO Aude Ambrosini and COO Luca Fazzone developped Mint, an easy-to-use and efficient recycling bin for people living in urban areas, with mid to high income, who want to recycle organic waste by removing the inconveniences and increasing the cleanliness of their kitchens. Mint is an innovative compost bin combined with a compost bag which prevents the decomposition of the organic waste during its storing, keeping kitchens hygienic.
