KickTheMap: a new end-to-end photogrammetry service for mobile
Most of small and complementary mapping are nowadays handled by expensive and skilled professionals whereas new technology make this data capture way easier than before. KickTheMap comes in the middle between the increasing need of 3D data and professionals that want fast and cheap 3D mapping solutions with a quick turnaround time for data delivery.
The two co-founders, Jérémie Locquet, CEO, and main developer of the application with a background of surveying engineer for 10 years, and Alexis Roze with a background of product manager in one of the most successful mapping drones start-up, are currently working closely with the laboratory of photogrammetry of HEIG-VD in Yverdon. They already have an MVP up and running on iOs smartphones and tablets and a full 3D web platform, to be expanded to Android this year.
The Venture Kick funds will enable them to hire Android developpers and invest in marketing to expand faster in Europe and the US.

Klepsydra Technologies: a new generation of edge computing software
Klepsydra team bring advanced software techniques from High Frequency Trading into the embedded software development field. These software techniques, although very sophisticated and complex, can bring the performance of an application substantially. For example, image processing can be eight times faster with the same hardware and no cloud.
Dr Pablo Ghiglino, Founder & CEO, PhD in Aerospace Engineering by Surrey Space Centre, Isabel del Casitllo, COO, Dr Mandar Harshe, Senior software developer and PhD in Robotics, Franco Bugnano and Guillermo Sarabia, both Senior software developers and Christoph Heidelberger, Coach are part of ESA BIC CH and working closely with EPFL University.
They plan to use the Venture Kick funds to hire salespeople to strengthen their marketing strategy and software engineers to build vertical solutions for automotive and drone sectors.

IxsirGas: Selective natural gas upgrading by oxychlorination
Currently, less than 10% of extracted natural gas is used for the manufacture of high-value chemicals, and ca. 3.5% is flared at oil and gas field, releasing over 350 million tons of CO2 every year. This is caused by the lack of adequate chemical technologies, resulting in energy and carbon losses. To capture the potential of the enormous wasted amounts of natural gas, an energy-efficient process that enables the transformation of this resource into valuable commodity chemicals was developed at the ETH over the last 10 years.
Therein, Dr. Guido Zichittella, nominated by Forbes as one of the 30 most influential scientists under 30 (2019), and Ali Saadun, who holds a M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering as well as a LL.M. in Business Law, have developed key catalytic materials that can achieve unparalleled productivity and efficiency. The team set the world record of yields/efficiencies for olefin generation, as well as other world records of highly selective catalytic materials in specific reactions.
They plan to invest the funds provided by Venture Kick in marketing and building prototype 1.0 of the process, the MVP, to be able to provide interested parties and potential partners a paid demonstration of their working process.

mimiX Biotherapeutics: Re-defining regenerative medicine
Demographic trends, driven by an aging population will challenge the healthcare systems all over the world and it is crucial to re-define the way advanced therapeutic solutions - regenerative medicine and cell-based therapies - are delivered to patients to avoid exploding healthcare costs.
Dr. Tiziano Serra (CSO) and Marc Thurner (CEO) of mimix Biotherapeutics re-defining patient’s accessibility by offering a Point-Of-Care, cost efficient Tissue Engineering approach to regenerative, patient-tailored precision medicine. At the core of their game-changing innovation is a proprietary biofabrication process exploiting acoustic waves to trigger tissue morphogenesis. A multitude of personalized, functional tissue grafts such as skin, cartilage or gingiva can be produced by using autologous tissues harvested and processed intra-operatively. Their proprietary 3D Sound-Induced Morphogenesis (3D-SIM) process allows the generation of morphologically relevant tissues through acoustic patterning.
The Venture Kick fund will be part of their Seed financing required to industrialize their 3D-SIM prototype expected to be marketed by Q3/2020 to R&D institutions to contribute to Proof the "Point-Of-Care" concept in the pre-clinical setup.
