Splint Invest wins CHF 150,000 to increase financial inclusion by making alternative investments accessible to everyone
13.10.2022
An alternative investment is a financial asset that does not fall into one of the conventional investment categories, such as stocks, bonds, and cash. Splint Invest is a platform through which pre-selected, trusted suppliers are allowed to offer their investment-grade assets to individual investors. Splint Invest currently allows to invest in luxury and rare items such as wine, whiskey, cars, and watches offering stable high returns over time with little to no correlation with conventional investments.

Splint Invest has developed a technology that combines a distributed ledger and smart contracts to effortlessly tokenize the ownership of real-world assets. In the Splint Invest app, individual investors can buy digital fractions— Splints— of alternative investments. On the startup’s secondary market, individual investors are also able to trade the Splints, solving the problem of illiquidity.
Individual investors currently have no access to alternative investments due to three main issues: No access to the asset (no connections, no available sellers); Lack of knowledge, experience, and storage possibilities; The asset is too costly and the market illiquid. These issues create inequality and put individual investors in a position of higher risk when it comes to retirement planning and financial security. Splint Invest solves all these issues. With the Splint Invest app, everybody can start investing within two minutes and with as little as EUR 50. The platform will soon expand to include real estate, agriculture, private equity, and collectible art offerings.
The startup will use the CHF 150,000 Venture Kick award to continue the growth journey and onboard additional individual investors. Additionally, Splint Invest is going to use the funds to update the app and allow investments in different currencies, like CHF and USD.
There are two primary components to Splint Invest’s product: The backend of the app, which combines smart contracts and a distributed ledger, to organize the marketplace; and a unique front end, which allows individual investors to navigate easily within all investment opportunities.
The Splint Invest team is made up of Aurelio Perucca (CEO), Alexander Bernauer (CTO), Mario von Bergen (CIO), and Ashley Puckett (CMO). The team has several years of experience with digital trends, scale-ups, smart contract software languages, and auditing in the asset management industry.
“We have participated in many start-up programs, but nothing can be compared to the Kicker’s Camp with Jordi. Of course, the financial support also was very appreciated, but what contributed the most to the development of Splint Invest was the collaboration with the Venture Kick team. Direct and often harsh feedback – but always constructive,” said Aurelio Perucca, CEO.
