ETH spin-off and Venture Kick alumnus Scrona is known for µPeek, a credit card sized smartphone microscope and is world record holder for the smallest printed inkjet image. Now the startup is developing a new NanoDrip 3D printing technology to enable fast and cost-effective production at the nanoscale. Other than existing printing technologies, that are either slow or provide insufficient precision, Scronas design is suitable for industrial applications.

Its printer contains ten thousands of simultaneously operated nozzles, which allows for printing up to 1000 fold higher resolution than current inkjet printers, while still upholding throughput. The technology has clear applications in numerous multi-billion industries ranging from security printing to printed electronics, flexible displays and diagnostics.

Business angels from Investiere.ch have now raised CHF 1.3 million in an oversubscribed seed round for Scrona to accelerate the development of their technology. “We are thrilled to push our innovation further with the new funds”, says CEO Partick Galliker. In addition, two business angels will join Scrona’s board, including an experienced entrepreneur who built and successfully sold his high-tech startup.

The startup, incorporated 2014, reach stage 2 of Venture Kick in 2013. In 2015, Scrona also was among Switzerland’s most promising startups and made the TOP 100 Swiss startup ranking.
