The venturelab alumnus Sophia Genetics was awarded best biotech startup of TOP 100 in 2016. According to TechCrunch it could be Switzerland’s next unicorn. It is an analytics company that is using AI to accelerate diagnostics in oncology, hereditary cancer, metabolic disorders, pediatrics and cardiology via DNA sequencing. Sophia Genetics is betting on powerful AI algorithms and a global community of hospitals to move diagnostics forward.
Sophia Genetics offers a DDM software-as-a-service platform where tests can be done via machine-learning-algorithms. About 215 hospitals from 35 countries are using the platform today. “Through Sophia’s AI technology, each patient tested today helps to further improve the diagnosis for another patient tomorrow”, TechCrunch quoted the investor Marc Coucke. A patient’s data in Zurich could, therefore, help a patient with a similar mutation in Shanghai or any other place on earth. With an increasing use the AI gets smarter.
Furthermore Sophia Genetics Hereditary Cancer solution lands CE-IVD MARK. Their solution helps quickly screen the 27 most relevant genes associated with hereditary cancer. It is the first solution CE-IVD marked that allows for the diagnosis of hereditary breast, ovarian and digestive cancers.
Also Venture Kick and venture leaders alumnus KeyLemon develops innovative technologies. They work together with Synaptics now, a pioneer and leader of the human interface revolution, in order to launch a revolutionary product. Synaptics has a broad portfolio of touch, display, and biometrics products. With solutions designed for mobile, PC and automotive industries, Synaptics combines ease of use, functionality and aesthetics to enable products that help make our digital lives more productive, secure and enjoyable.
Synaptics partnered with KeyLemon, a leader in continuous camera-based facial recognition and authentication, to seamlessly integrate secure facial biometrics with Natural ID fingerprint authentication. “We are very excited to partner with industry leader Synaptics on a comprehensive solution that is secure and convenient,” said Gilles Florey, CEO, KeyLemon. “Integrating our advanced technologies enables unsurpassed mixture of security and user convenience for trusted, mobile authentication in online banking, payments and other transactions.”
