Largo (EPFL) – film, marketplace: Largo is a short film distribution platform that creates new distribution channels for short-film makers and allows a wide audience to enjoy the increasing quality of short films. By providing strong deep-learning based features, the startup provides a high level of user engagement in the film watching experience.
The startup is distributing short films in Switzerland, with a focus on bringing the best international short films to the movie theaters. Largo started its activities, driven by passion for short films, and by deeply believing in their artistic value.
Largo offers smart personalized recommendations, dynamic video filtering, smart film search, automatic film tagging and categorization. A deep learning base AI system that automatically manages films as soon as they are uploaded is crucial for handling a massive amount of films in a database. This is one of Largo’s competitive advantages compared to its direct competitors.
By grouping short films of similar style together, Largo offers a new product that can fit the cinema standards, having a total running length of a standard feature film. Learn more about Largo
AiROS (CHUV/UNIL) – medTech: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a life-threatening slowly evolving condition, which can be slowed if diagnosed early. Unlike the spirometry test currently in use, AiROS proposes a device which is able to detect early signs of the disease.
AiROS developed an ultrasensitive sensor based on a patented (EU, US pending) enhanced colorimetric method, involving the enhancement of the photon path length in a scattering medium for increased sensitiviy. The novelty resides also in the exhaled air collection method, allowing the volatile and non-volatile fraction of the exhaled air to be taken into account during the analysis.
The advantages of the designed developed includes accuracy, portability, ease-of-use and low-cost. Disposable (single use) reaction vials containing the colorimetric solution can be stored (-20°C) for months before use.
