Inverto Earth joins forces with Delta Blue Carbon to advance Blue Carbon monitoring standards
28.05.2025
Robotics company Inverto Earth has announced a strategic partnership with Delta Blue Carbon (DBC), the world's largest mangrove restoration initiative. The collaboration introduces a new benchmark in digital monitoring, reporting, and verification (DMRV) for Blue Carbon projects, combining high-resolution drone technology and machine learning to enhance transparency and data integrity at scale.

Inverto Earth is partnering with Delta Blue Carbon to implement a new generation of digital MRV tools aimed at improving the accuracy and impact of Blue Carbon initiatives. The collaboration, which includes leading organizations such as IUCN, Silvestrum Climate Associates, and Trafigura, will bring advanced robotics, drone-based LIDAR, and multispectral imaging to mangrove ecosystems in a push to raise industry standards in transparency and empirical monitoring.
Launched in January, the partnership marked the beginning of the first large-scale Tier 3 Digital Monitoring campaign within the Blue Carbon sector. Over the next few months, Inverto Earth and DBC will collect terabytes of biomass data — the most comprehensive, fully-calibrated datasets ever assembled for a Blue Carbon project. These efforts will be key to building a ground-truthed, high-resolution model that can serve as a reference for future DMRV systems.
By integrating drone and sensing technologies with machine learning, Inverto Earth aims to deliver a brand new level of transparency at scale. This approach directly addresses key sources of uncertainty in Blue Carbon accounting, including allometric equations, soil organic carbon (SOC), and exposure to natural risks.
The project's shift toward geospatial monitoring and empirical soil sampling also supports adaptive management, enabling stakeholders to track changes and mitigate climate-related threats with greater precision. Findings and insights from the ongoing monitoring campaign will be released in the coming months, contributing to a more measurable and reliable framework for climate resilience in coastal ecosystems.
The Robotics company was backed by Venture Kick in 2023. "Venture Kick is the quality stamp for any Swiss startup. Investors, partners or even clients know this, hence, the number of doors this opens is invaluable. We are really excited that the program is strongly supporting us in making wetland restoration and in general nature positivity a little bit more of a reality," highlighted Inverto's Co-Founder and CEO Dr.Jürg Germann.
