Great news: Zalando invests in Zurich based startup Fashwell
03.11.2016
Every day we click on thousands of images on Instagram, showing models wearing clothes that we would also like to wear. With the vision of making fashion products on the internet accessible to users and giving them the opportunity to purchase them, three EPFL graduates developed Fashwell: an app which lets people find and purchase their favourite fashion products, made possible by an algorithm for image analysis based on machine learning. Now Zalando, a fashion and technology company, currently transforming into a multi-service platform invests in the Zurich based Startup.

Fashwell is putting high-tech solutions at the service of fashion lovers. An algorithm for image analysis based on machine learning, the
Fashwell app identifies blouses, shirts and trousers in images, e.g. on Instagram, and informs the user where they can buy the items. If
they are then purchased through a partner store, Fashwell earns money as well.
Fashwell was 2016 one of the winners of the fourth Swisscom StartUp Challenge. Having delivered the best pitches to the jury, they benefited from a one-week business acceleration programme in Silicon Valley in October. Furthermore they won Venture Kick first stage in 2013 and now Europe's biggest online-only fashion retailer invests in the Zurich based startup.
