Going the distance: greenTEG's CORE powers world record

11.10.2022

greenTEG's CORE technology enabled two world-class achievements in one day. The Venture Kick and Venture Leaders alum celebrates the involvement of its CORE technology in two record-breaking athletic performances in Switzerland and Hawaii. greenTEG participated in Venture Kick in 2009, in Venture Leaders China in 2014, and made the TOP 100 from 2011 to 2013.

On Saturday, Swiss cyclist Filippo Ganna broke a world record in Grenchen, Switzerland. Ganna, who is on the UCI World Team INEOS Grenadiers, broke the UCI Hour Record, reaching a distance of 56.792 km. A few hours later, Gustav Iden won the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, setting a new course record: he crossed the finish line in a time of 7:40:24 and set a new running record with 2:36:15.

Both athletes were equipped with greenTEG's CORE technology, which monitors core body temperature. Racing in the hot and humid climate of Kona puts different demands on the body than biking in a velodrome in Switzerland; but no matter what the circumstances, thermoregulation is critical to achieving and maintaining the performance levels needed to break boundaries. The data and insights provided by the CORE sensor were also crucial for training ahead of the events

greenTEG develops, manufactures, and markets thermal sensor solutions for heat flux and laser power/position measurements and provides consulting on the thermal integration of its products. These solutions are available both for research and industry purposes, including applications in the fields of R&D, building, and wearables. "We are happy to have profited from the support provided by Venture Kick," greenTEG CEO Wulf Glatz notes, "and grateful for the insights and experience gained as part of Venture Leaders."

greenTEG participated in Venture Kick in 2009, winning CHF 30,000 to develop their startup. In 2014, greenTEG CEO Wulf Glatz was a Venture Leaders finalist and traveled to China to learn about accessing Asian markets. greenTEG also made the TOP 100 several years in a row.
