Fusionality receives CHF 40,000 from Venture Kick to advance its control and instrumentation systems for the emerging fusion energy industry. Building on expertise from EPFL’s Swiss Plasma Center, the company enables fusion developers to accelerate reactor development with advanced control and data systems, reducing the need to build these capabilities in-house.

What was the first real signal that your solution worked outside the lab or pitch deck, and what did that moment change for you?

After founding the company, we spent our first months talking to potential customers to understand their challenges. One day, a customer described their need for fusion control and data systems using almost exactly the same words we had been using in our investor pitch.

That was the moment we knew the need was real, not just in our minds. It confirmed there was genuine demand for a company like Fusionality.

Can you briefly describe your project and where it stood when you entered Venture Kick?

Fusionality develops control and instrumentation systems for the emerging fusion energy industry. Building on expertise from EPFL’s Swiss Plasma Center, we help fusion companies develop advanced control systems so they don’t have to build everything in-house.

When we entered Venture Kick, we had a clear vision and technical plan, but we struggled to communicate the business opportunity to investors. While people believed in the technology, we needed a stronger story around growth and commercial potential.

How has the direction of your product/service/product strategy changed since working with the Venture Kick Team?

Venture Kick helped us sharpen our pitch and clearly communicate the value we bring to customers. We became much better at explaining the financial and operational benefits of our solution, as well as our growth strategy.

The program also encouraged us to be more transparent about our assumptions and the entrepreneurial risks we’re taking, making our story more credible to investors.

How will the Stage 2 funding help you advance your project concretely?

Stage 2 funding will help us strengthen our commercial presence by sponsoring key fusion conferences, meeting customers around the world, and increasing our visibility within the industry.

It will also support the development of promotional materials and technology demonstrators, helping us show that Fusionality has moved beyond the idea stage and is becoming a fully operational company.
