NaloFast (University of Geneva), biotech:

Around the world, up to 230,000 people die from an opioid overdose every year, with the anti-opioid market predicted to grow to above $120m by 2021. When it comes to an opioid overdose reversal, seconds make a difference! NaloFast is an ultra-fast acting anti-opioid nasal spray using patent-pending APERI technology. APERI is a drug delivery technology that helps to both significantly maximize bioavailability and minimize the time for opioid overdose reversal. APERI is a platform technology and NaloFast nasal spray will be the first product of it. Nalofast nasal spray can be used by parents, caregivers, school teachers and law enforcement troops with no prior training.

External Beam Ablation Medical Devices (EBA-Med) (CERN, TERA Foundation), Medtech:

EBA-Med develops and commercializes innovative solutions for non-invasive and automated treatment of heart arrhythmias by using proton beams (external beam ablation). The proton beam mimics the effect of an invasive manual catheter procedure, which requires many hours of work by specialized staff. Compared to currently available proton beam treatments, the team proposes a solution with greater accuracy in targeting a specific location within a beating heart. EBA-Med aims to make the treatment of arrhythmias safe and effective with minimum discomfort for patients (over 350k yearly worldwide).

UniteLabs (ETH Zurich), IT, biotech, robotics:

UniteLabs automates life science labs in minutes instead of days. By combining the latest robotic technologies, computer vision tools, and experience from both manual and automated labs into a software solution, it enables lab automation with previously unseen ease and flexibility.

Fixposition (ETH Zurich), electronics, software, navigation:

The combination of cutting-edge computer vision techniques and leading satellite navigation know-how allows Fixposition to develop products that provide ultra-reliable high-precision navigation. The positioning system provides centimeter-level accuracy and stays operational in challenging environments, such as urban-canyons, forests or other places with limited satellite signal reception. This facilitates a wide variety of tasks such as autonomous industrial drone inspection, high-precision control of autonomous machines and guidance of self-driving cars.
