Specializing in confined space inspection drones, the company works towards making industrial spaces safer and more efficient. After closing a Series A financing round with CHF 5.5 million, Flybotix will invest in further R&D of its ASIO drone as well as the accompanying software. Flybotix is a Venture Kick and Venture Leaders alum and was voted a TOP 100 Swiss Startup from 2020 to 2022.

The equity part of the Series A round was led by a Swiss Investment Holding advised by Schwartzkopff Partners. Several new investors participated in the round, in addition to the participation of existing investors. The financing part was covered by Technology Fund (The fund offers loan guarantees to Swiss companies whose novel products contribute to a sustainable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions).

Flybotix patented technology doubles flight time when compared to traditional solutions. Its ASIO drone thus enables faster inspections, cheaper asset shutdowns, and new, previously impossible use cases.

“Flybotix has achieved a great evolution since its inception. We are excited about working with our new investors and warmly welcome them onboard,” said Flybotix CEO Samir Bouabdallah.

Having successfully entered the market with its ASIO drone, Flybotix will use the newly acquired funds to further develop the autonomous navigation capabilities of the drone. Flybotix offers the ASIO pro solution with the drone unit, the flight app, and the post-processing software ASIO Explore, which the company is further developing on the cloud as a SaaS.

Flybotix participated in Venture Kick in 2019, winning CHF 50,000 to develop its drone technology and business model. It also participated in the Venture Leaders China program, which took deep-tech entrepreneurs on an investor roadshow in the economic hubs of Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong.

"The Venture Kick competition was instrumental in supporting us financially and in providing us with feedback and advice to enhance our business idea and later our business case," CEO Samar Bouabdallah has stated, adding "We were thrilled to participate in the Venture Leaders roadshow in China last summer. It was very useful in helping us refine our business strategy and in better understanding the Chinese market reality, the Chinese way of working, and the risks versus the benefits for a startup that wants to start out in China. This is valuable knowledge that would have taken us much more time and energy to figure out if we had not been able to participate in such a condensed roadshow experience."

The EPFL spinoff also participated in the ESA BIC Switzerland program and the Scale-up Bootcamp in 2021.

A jury of experts and investors also ranked the company among the TOP 100 Swiss Startups in 2020, 2021, and 2022. The startup also earned a top spot in this year's TOP 100 Public Voting and participated in TOP 100 satellite events connecting investors with startups.
