DeepJudge, a Swiss startup utilizing AI to aid law firms and legal departments in searching for internal knowledge, has secured USD 10.7 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round led by Coatue, with participation from notable angel investors such as Gokul Rajaram and existing investors Thomas Dübendorfer, Daniel Sauter, and Felix Ehrat.

Founded by AI researchers and former Google engineers Paulina Grnarova, Yannic Kilcher, and Kevin Roth, DeepJudge addresses a core challenge in the legal sector: Efficient access and utilization of internal documents. Its solutions include DeepJudge Knowledge Search, enabling instant retrieval across enterprise systems, and DeepJudge Knowledge Assistant, an exclusive generative AI interface tailored for legal contexts.

With initial success in Europe, DeepJudge is expanding globally, strengthening its team with industry experts and advisors like Tony Ensinger, previously Head of Sales at Casetext (acquired by Thomson Reuters), Steve Obenski, former senior leader at Kira Systems (acquired by Litera), and Jan Puzicha, one of the founders of Recommind (acquired by OpenText), to spearhead growth in the US market. The funding will further support the ICT startup's mission to innovate legal search capabilities and enhance client services.

DeepJudge was ranked among the TOP 100 Swiss Startups in 2023 and won the final stage of Venture Kick in 2021.

"Winning all of the three stages of Venture Kick was a great milestone in the early days of DeepJudge," highlighted Paulina Grnarova, Co-Founder and CEO of DeepJudge. "It not only validated our mission and vision but also refined our messaging and strengthened our strategy through invaluable feedback from the jury members. As Venture Kick alumni, we continually benefit from its network and joint events."
