Founded in 2024, Carewell develops a platform that helps hospitals, nursing homes and home-care organizations manage staff absences and fill open shifts more efficiently. The company says its solution is already used by more than 50 healthcare institutions across Switzerland.
Switzerland continues to face a shortage of healthcare professionals, placing increasing pressure on healthcare managers, who can spend up to 60% of their time creating schedules and arranging staff replacements. Carewell's platform is designed to reduce this administrative burden by first mobilizing an institution's internal workforce and, when necessary, connecting employers with healthcare professionals seeking flexible work opportunities. A proprietary matching algorithm helps assign the right professionals to available shifts.
The company aims to address what it describes as a self-reinforcing staffing cycle, where unfilled shifts increase workloads for existing teams, contributing to burnout and further workforce departures. By prioritizing internal staff before opening vacancies to its external marketplace, Carewell seeks to ease pressure on healthcare teams while offering flexible work options that encourage professionals to remain in the sector.
The new funding will support Carewell's commercial expansion across Switzerland, with a particular focus on the German-speaking regions. The company also plans to continue developing its matching technology and mobile application while expanding its engineering, operations, and sales teams.
In addition to receiving Venture Kick funding, Carewell is the first Swiss startup to complete the full FIT Digital program, including the Grant, Seed, and Growth stages. The company also won the 2025 PERL (Prix Entreprendre Région Lausanne) grand prize.

Carewell co-founders Josselin Meylan (CEO), Fabian Mösli (CPO & CAIO), Soazig Olivin (CHRO), Mathieu Dubois (CTO, right), with Eric Dumelin (Head of Deutschschweiz), and Liridona Sadiku (Talent Manager Deutschschweiz)
