Winterthur-based startup Borobotics has developed an electric-powered drilling robot, "Grabowski," for geothermal applications in confined spaces like city centers. The robot reduces CO2 emissions by eliminating the need for diesel generators and requires just 6-8 square meters to drill in previously inaccessible locations.
Founded in 2023, Borobotics has raised CHF 1.3 million in a funding round led by Underground Ventures (UGV), with contributions from Silicon Valley investor Christian Bach, Swiss angels, Kickfund, and companies like Hans Barmettler & CO, Bospi, and WSG.
The funds will help Borobotics further develop its prototypes into systems capable of drilling up to 250 meters deep, aiming to make geothermal energy more accessible and cost-effective.
The Cleantech startup won Venture Kick in 2023.
