Frontline employees in sectors such as production, retail, construction, nursing, hotels, and hospitality work without a fixed desktop workstation, for example. Although more than 80% of employees worldwide work on the frontline, digitization for these jobs is lagging.
Beekeeper, an ETH spin-off founded in 2012, supports companies and their employees with its mobile-enabled platform, which allows organizations to automate paper-based processes, and plan shifts; it also enables real-time communication with their employees from anywhere and improves engagement, productivity, and security of frontline teams. Moreover, all employees have access to the documents, from safety-relevant information to the canteen's menu. Companies in more than 150 countries in hospitality, retail, manufacturing, and construction are already using the platform.
Led by co-founder and CEO Cristian Grossmann, the Beekeeper team has more than doubled its revenue since the COVID pandemic began; its team has grown to more than 200 people in Europe and the US.
The Series C financing of USD 50 million allows Beekeeper to sustain its growth and expand its Frontline Success System. The company also plans to launch new applications such as an automated onboarding process, an internal recruitment referral tool, and a mobile security management solution.
EGS Beteiligungen AG and Kreos Capital newly joined previous investors Energize, Thayer, Swisscanto, Keen Ventures, Alpana Ventures, and Verve Capital. To date, funds raised by the company exceed a total of USD 100 million.
“I am more excited about the work of the Beekeeper team than ever before," CEO Cristian Grossmann stated. "We are paving the way for employees on the frontline to be able to work even more successfully in the future. The distance between employers and their employees without a PC workstation is too great to ignore. We are revolutionizing frontline work. And the fact that we receive so much support from investors, customers, and partners shows us how important our mission has become. It underlines that the demand for technologies for frontline workplaces is greater than ever.”
Beekeeper won CHF 10,000 as a Venture Kick participant in 2011. It proceeded to rank among the TOP 100 Swiss Startups in 2016 and 2017 and participated in the Venture Leaders China program in 2019. It was voted a TOP 100 Scale-Up every year from 2019 to 2022.
