And the winners of Venture Kick's first stage are ...

Four startups won CHF 10’000 each at the first stage of Venture Kick: Swissloop, Volumina Medical, Liberty MedTech and dotphoton. They benefit from the annual 3 million in cash support from the program as well as hands-on execution support at the kickers camps. Now they're preparing for stage two, where they might win another CHF 20’000.

Swissloop (ETHZ - Automotive): Their pod features propulsion by compressed air that exits the vehicle at low temperatures and provides a rocket-like acceleration upon expansion at the nozzle. The permanent magnets for levitation and the air tanks together with their control systems reside in the vehicle's 'legs' to lower the centre of gravity but also to create a lot of space.


Volumina Medical (EPFL - Medtech): Volumina Medical develops a medical device delivered sterile, ready to be used by plastic surgeons aiming at reconstructing soft tissue volumes for patients needing to regain shape and function of soft tissues damaged after cancer, accident or malformation.



Liberty Medtech (USI - Medtech): Liberty will solve a vital problem to all person affected with mobility problem with a simple revolutionary solution to: (SLA, Deuchenne, Tertaplegic, Ictus, stroke, etc..) the main purpose is to give them a full body rehabilitation controlled by expert in physiotherapy, they will gain the independece to choose the degree of freedom of their body.


dotphoton (UNIGE - Software): dotphoton is a ground­breaking lossless image format for science, tech and art. The startup provides an image compression solution to professional customers. This consists of software, IP licenses, support and certification.
