RealWear, a leader in wearable computing for industrial applications, has acquired Swiss AR innovator Almer Technologies in a move designed to transform the industrial Augmented Reality (AR) landscape. The acquisition, supported by TeamViewer, a top provider of enterprise AR software, represents a major step toward equipping frontline workers with advanced AR solutions.
The deal combines RealWear's expertise in rugged, voice-operated devices with Almer's compact, user-friendly AR headsets, which have gained attention for their innovative subscription model. Together, they aim to meet the growing demand for wearable AR devices that enhance productivity and safety in industrial environments.
TeamViewer, a strategic investor in both companies, will maintain its role, continuing to support the integration of software and hardware. Clients like Coca-Cola HBC, Ford, and Samsung SDS have already benefited from these technologies, achieving notable efficiency improvements and cost savings.
Almer's co-founders will join RealWear's executive team, further driving efforts to make AR solutions accessible and intuitive for global frontline workers.
