The EY Entrepreneur of the Year award is being granted for the 21st time this year. Forty-six individuals from national and international Swiss companies entered the competition, and an independent jury chose 18 finalists. Among them are Nicolas Durand of Abionic and Yann Tissot of L.E.S.S., both competing in the category “Emerging Entrepreneur”.

Abionic and L.E.S.S successfully competed in the Venture Kick program. Abionic won stage 3 in 2010. Its intuitive and fast diagnostic platform can run tests for allergies as well as iron deficiency and can determine the level of risk that a patient has in developing sepsis, using a single drop of blood. L.E.S.S. won Venture Kick stage 3 in 2012. The startup developed an ultra-thin, -bright and -uniform lighting system as a serious alternative to today’s LEDs. Both companies also took top spots in the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award rankings of the past few years.

In the coming weeks, the jury will evaluate the finalists for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year and choose the winners. They will be revealed in a gala event on the 26. October in Baden.

EY's Entrepreneur of the Year program started in 1986 in the United States. Since then, it has established itself in over 70 countries. Early next year, an independent jury will select the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year from all the country winners. Alongside the competition, the program also gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to connect and exchange experiences.
