Climeworks, founded in 2009, has established itself as a leader in direct air capture (DAC) technology, providing companies with a tangible path to reducing carbon footprints. Its Mammoth facility in Iceland, one of the largest of its kind, captures 36,000 tons of CO2 annually. Companies such as JPMorgan Chase, Microsoft, and Stripe purchase carbon credits from Climeworks to offset their emissions.
Planted Foods, a spinoff from ETH Zurich, is reshaping the plant-based meat industry with its proprietary structuring and fermentation technologies. From fine dining to supermarket shelves, its products are now available in over 6,100 restaurants and 8,700 retail outlets across Europe. With production capacity on the rise, the company is positioned for further expansion.
Insolight, a Venture Kick alumnus that also secured a spot on this year’s list at number 188, is changing the way farmers harness energy. Its Insolagrin system replaces conventional plastic tunnels with translucent solar modules, allowing crops to thrive while generating electricity. The company has already deployed more than 30,000 m² (2 MWp) of installations across Europe, demonstrating the dual benefits of its approach.
