Celebrating 15 Years Kicking Forward Swiss Innovation

It all started in fall 2007 when the program was announced on Swiss Television.

15 years later, over 917 business ideas from Swiss universities were selected and kicked towards global markets, receiving seed money of up to CHF 150,000, strong exposure, and business development support at Venture Kick Jury Sessions, Kickers Camps, and networking events.

15 Years of Kicking Startups to Success

The philantropic initiative of a private consortium started with the threefold vision to double the number of university spin-offs, to make these more attractive for investors and halve their time-to-market.

CHF 44.85 million in cash have been paid out to kickstart talented startup founders. The survival rate of all incorporated companies is 86% and the impact they created is phenomenal: 718 active high-tech companies with 11,362 jobs to date. Our alumni have attracted more than CHF 6.76 billion from investors and keep growing strong.

To celebrate our 15 Years, we launch a short film series paying tribute to the impact of our alumni in tackling some of the most pressing global challenges of our time.

Our 15 Year anniversary is the perfect occasion to share more about the nature and composition of startup founding teams. We’re also using this opportunity to analyze the intellectual property prevalence among the supported startups, which underlines our mission to transfer science to the market.
